ENSEMBLE IN LIMBO

Ensemble in Limbo, funded by Márk Bartha, is an ongoing live electroacoustic project that delves into the realms of collaborative creation, collective composing, and a spectralist approach to composition. This project aims to encourage a slow and contemplative musical environment, inviting both the audience and participants to embark on an introspective listening journey, making each concert a unique experience.
Inspired by Pauline Oliveros’ Deep Listening philosophy, Terry Riley‘s minimalist aesthetics, Catherine Christer Hennix’s and La Monte Young’s drone music - Ensemble in Limbo builds on this lineage by bringing its central concerns into a site-specific electroacoustic context. The project combines alternative tuning, open musical structures, improvisation, spatial sound and performative presence to create immersive environments where listening becomes a shared physical and perceptual experience.
