UGLIMÁN

UGLIMÁN is an audiovisual performance and music release by Lohuma, the producer alias of Márk Bartha, created in collaboration with visual artists Máté Bartha and Máté Kőrösi. The music was released by ASAN Budapest in 2022, and the audiovisual performance debuted the same year at Három Holló in Budapest.

The project is built around the mysterious figure of UGLIMÁN: a post-truth shaman native to the urban labyrinth, walking through the city, searching for patterns, collecting fragments and interacting with his surroundings. Through his wandering, UGLIMÁN attempts to connect with a distorted and unstable contemporary reality.

Musically, the piece moves through deep registers, raw textures, noisy electronic gestures and fragmented rhythmic situations. The visual material extends this world through fake-documentary and cinematic tools, following UGLIMÁN’s gaze as everyday urban details become strange, ritualistic and abstract.

In the live A/V performance, sound and image are created and edited in real time. Live music mixing and real-time controlled visual editing allow the flickering scenes and sounds to complement, interrupt or counterpoint one another. The result is a complex audiovisual experience somewhere between concert, film, urban mythology and hallucination — a playful and unsettling attempt to reinterpret our relationship with the city, perception and everyday reality.
