PEREMVIDÉK
The piece explores liminality, threshold states and the condition of being in-between. Peremvidék — meaning something close to “borderland” or “peripheral territory” — is imagined as a shifting space where performers and audience enter the same field of attention. Rather than presenting a linear narrative, the work creates an environment for contemplation, immersion and collective listening.
The performance brought together voice, movement and electronic sound. The thirty-member Soharóza choir became the central body of the work, not only as performers but also as creative collaborators in the development of the material. Their voices formed slowly moving harmonic fields, while their physical presence shaped the space together with the choreographic structure created by Beatrix Simkó Trisha.
Musically, PEREMVIDÉK continued Márk Bartha’s research into sustained tones, repetition, spatial sound and shared musical processes developed through Ensemble in Limbo. The electronics surrounded and extended the choir, creating a sonic environment in which voices, bodies and resonance became inseparable. Movement was not treated as a separate visual layer, but as part of the same temporal and spatial composition: a way of tracing sound through bodies, gestures and proximity.
The work unfolded as a constantly changing space-time labyrinth, whose hidden logic gradually revealed itself through attention. Between concert, ritual and performance, PEREMVIDÉK invited the audience into a fragile collective situation: a borderland of sound, movement and shared presence.
